Do I need a CPAP Machine?

This is the big question that literally millions of people worldwide ask themselves every year. And its a very relevant question to ask if you snore to the point where it is seriously interrupting your nights sleep - and that of those around you.

If you have been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) by your doctor or a sleep specialist, it is likely that they would like you to use a CPAP machine. As Sleep Apnea can have serious effects on your health, it is certainly advisable to follow through on this and see if it will work for you.

However, if you are looking to see if there are any alternatives before jumping in, or you are only a mild snorer and have heard of friends that have a CPAP, (or ResMed machine as they are sometimes known by), there are a number of anti-snoring devices and supplements that are 100% natural and have been proved in clinical trials to be effective in many cases.

WHAT DOES CPAP MEAN?

CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure.

To simplify the explanation, many cases of snoring that lead to Sleep Apnea are caused over time by the airway in the throat becoming restricted. This can be from irritation due to mucus & pollen, allergies, genetic disorders, muscle relaxant use such as sleeping and other drugs or alcohol, being overweight or degeneration of the throat muscles over time.

Common reasons for snoring include:

  • The tongue falling back and blocking the throat
  • The roof of the throat relaxing and blocking the airway
  • Mucus and other irritants creating swelling in the throat tissue and restricting the airflow

This is where the positive airflow comes into play. By pumping a constant even pressure of air down the throat through a face or nose mask, it is possible that the airway can be keep open enough for regular breathing to occur.

So the question comes up again.

DO I NEED A CPAP MACHINE?

That is not a question that we can offer a definitive answer to in this publication

If your GP has advised you to use one, it is likely that your health is at risk of being affected by your condition, so it is important that you heed this advice and work with your doctor on this.

It is important to note however that many people that use CPAP machines also use products such as Nasal Strips in conjunction with their CPAP Machine to help keep their nasal passages open during the night.

If you haven't been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, there are a number of products that have been designed to help keep the airways - both nasal and throat - to stay open and to help to reduce or eliminate snoring.

The Snorblok range of anti-snoring products are inexpensive to use - both as a trial - and for an ongoing assistance to stopping snoring.

WHAT OTHER ANTI-SNORING PRODUCTS CAN HELP ME?

As mentioned above, there are a number of Snorblok products that work both with a CPAP Machine, and can prove to be effective without using one.

The following products are proving to be effective with many people, both in New Zealand and around the world.

SNORBLOK SNORE REMEDY

This unique 100% natural health supplement has been formulated to help the body's normal function in breaking down secretions and mucus in the throat and soothing irritation and swelling of the throat tissue.

Mucus is a protein which often gathers in the throat at night when we lie down to sleep and can contain foreign bodies that have entered the airways such as dust and pollen. These are "bound up" within the mucus for expulsion from the body, however it can then irritate the throat tissue, resulting in swelling and/or restriction of the airway.

Proteins such as mucus are broken down by specific enzymes, which we normally ingest when we eat raw foods such as meat and fruit. They can often be lacking due to many people's diets which are often high in cooked or processed foods.

Snorblok Snore Remedy contains a proprietary blend of 4 special enzymes and 11 especially chosen herbs, known for their properties in helping the bodies normal function in reducing swelling and irritation.
